The Punjab Small Industries Corporation (PSIC) has introduced an interest-free financial support scheme designed to help artisans establish, strengthen and expand cottage industry-based businesses across Punjab.
Under the scheme, eligible artisans can receive financing of up to PKR 500,000, repayable in equal monthly instalments over a period of up to three years. Applicants must be residents of Punjab and registered with PSIC through its artisan geo-tagging system.
The initiative aims to preserve traditional handicrafts, encourage self-employment and create sustainable income opportunities for artisan communities. With a revolving fund of PKR 150 million, the scheme is expected to support hundreds of direct beneficiaries and approximately 1,200 artisans during its operational cycle.
By improving access to financial resources, PSIC is helping skilled craftspeople invest in materials, tools, production capacity and business development.
This initiative represents an important step towards protecting Punjab’s cultural industries while enabling artisans to transform their traditional skills into sustainable businesses.
